Reference

There is a photograph on my shelf of six people on a beach, squinting into the sun. Three of them I still see often. Two I have lost touch with entirely. One is no longer alive. Every time I dust the frame I mean to put it away, because it makes me a little sad, and every time I put it back, because it also makes me glad the afternoon happened at all.
