How to avoid memorised IELTS answers
Practise flexible ideas instead of fixed scripts.
Original practice material · Draft: editorial review pending
Try it step by step
- Choose a familiar topic and note three experiences you could describe.
- Answer two differently worded questions about that topic using different details.
- Change your opening on the second attempt so it responds to the exact question.
Example to adapt
- For a question about weekend habits, describe a normal Saturday; for a memorable weekend, choose a particular event.
Self-check
- Did I answer the actual question?
- Did I include a reason, detail or example where appropriate?
- What one thing will I try differently next time?
