The square is a different place after ten. The market stalls are gone, the shops are shuttered, and the fountain sounds louder without the daytime noise around it. A few people cross it quickly on their way home. One café stays open, its light spilling onto the stones. It feels less like the centre of the town and more like a room everyone has left.
