Reference

For two weeks last spring I looked after a friend's dog. I had never wanted a dog and still do not, but those two weeks rearranged my days in a way I secretly enjoyed. I walked before breakfast. I noticed the park in different light. I talked to neighbours I had ignored for years. When the dog went home, I kept the early walk for a while, then slowly let it go.
