The value of a slow morning

Reference

For years I treated mornings as something to survive. I would wake late, rush through the essentials and arrive everywhere slightly behind. Then, almost by accident, I started getting up half an hour earlier. Nothing dramatic happened, but that half hour, with no demands on it, changed the shape of my day. I am calmer, I forget fewer things, and I no longer feel that the day is chasing me. It is a small change, but I would defend it fiercely.
